Firefighters led a house blaze casualty to safety after a home erupted in flames and smoke.

The fire was discovered at the home on Park Rise, Holmesfield, about 3.20am, on Wednesday, December 4.

Dronfield, Chesterfield and South Yorkshire firefighters attended the two-storey, detached property and escorted a casualty from the building.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “The property was smoke-logged and firefighters with breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire. Crews also used a ventilator to clear the smoke.”

The property was made safe by about 4.50am and after the seat of the fire had been discovered in the chimney an investigation was launched to establish the exact cause.

A fire service spokesman added: “An ambulance attended the property and took care of the casualty.”
