Seventy-eight per cent of the grades achieved were A* to C while 20 per cent were As and A*s.

The school’s top performing student gained five A*s and is heading to Oxford to study maths, while other students will be moving on to study subjects including law, sports science, computer science, criminology and primary teaching. A number of students are also taking up higher level apprenticeships.

Headteacher David Baker said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results, not just in the last few months but throughout the two years of their courses.

“They have built on their excellent AS qualifications last year and now have A-level results of which they can be really proud.

“I also want to recognise the dedicated work of teachers and support staff in school and the wonderful support they have had from parents”.

Mr Baker added that it is great to see so many students going to university, despite the costs and the seriousness with which they are planning for their futures.
