Plans to close two children’s centres – and reduce the opening hours of another 10 – have opened for public comment.
Derbyshire County Council is considering cutting its annual £8 million children’s centres budget, as part of £157m of savings needed to meet Government spending cuts.
Centres at Killamarsh, Bakewell, Crich, Wirksworth, Arkwright and Tupton could have their hours reduced.
The council says proposals have been based on the needs of local communities, how many people use each centre, and how much each costs to run.
A consultation began last week, following a review of the centres, and will run until January 2015.
