Cllr Andy Botham, Derbyshire County Council’s Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said: “We are always looking for ways to attract more visitors to the countryside and this gives people the perfect opportunity to come along and cycle along the High Peak Trail and see what the area has to offer.”

Derbyshire County Council’s Middleton Top Visitor Centre is on the High Peak Trail in Middleton by Wirksworth and has a gift shop, car park, toilets and picnic area.

The area also houses the restored steam engine house built in 1829 by the Butterley Company to haul wagons up the Middleton incline, with the engine room open on certain weekends.
