HARD-WORKING community-based groups have been awarded cash boosts in the Derbyshire Times-backed campaign the Healthy Places Awards.
Derbyshire Times editor Nicola Megson and reporter Michael Broomhead handed out the prizes to the winners in a special ceremony at Chesterfield Town Hall last Friday.
Five groups won cash in the awards, designed to recognise and reward organisations working to boost the quality of life and health of residents living across Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire.
The Lea Brook Valley Project and Temple Normanton Primary School Playscheme have clinched £2,000 each, while Hunloke Community Garden, Langer Field Community Group and Wessington Green Local Nature Reserve Management Committee have won £500 each.
The Healthy Places Awards was supported by CHART LSP and NHS Derbyshire County.
Nicola Megson said: “We’ve been really pleased by the fantastic response to this wonderful campaign and we’d like to thank everyone who took part. It’s great we’ve had the chance to recognise their efforts.”
