The geese were found dumped at Palterton, near Bolsover, with their breast removed and some with their feet cut off, Derbyshire Constabulary's wildlife unit said.

They are a mixture of Canada geese and Greylag geese.

Police do not believe the geese to have been shot.

A post on the Derbyshire Constabulary Wildlife Officer Facebook page read: "They have clearly been taken to the area and dumped as it is down a very narrow track. But it is suspected that they may have come from ponds in the area."
