Freemason honoured after 50 years

A Bakewell resident has been honoured after being a freemason for 50 years.

Members of Bakewell Freemasons gave a special award to Robert Bedlington at his home at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home.

Mr Bedlington was born in Whitby on May 1920, he married Barbara and they had two daughters, Julia and Damaris.

He joined the Army in 1938 and served with the Northumberland Fusiliers in the Second World War, during which time he was promoted to the rank of Major.

Mr Bedlington now has three grandsons and a grand daughter.
