Staff in pubs, clubs, bars and off licences across Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire, Amber Valley and Bolsover are being offered the chance to pick up a free qualification around selling alcohol responsibly.

The one day course covers responsibilities associated with the retail sale of alcohol and the duties around under age sales and serving people who are drunk and will equip staff with an industry recognised qualification.

By completing the multiple choice exam at the end, staff can gain a BIIAB Level 1 Award, which proves they understand the main points of licensing law.

PC Daryl Robotham who is member of the Licensing Team for the area said: “The course is open to people who work in pubs, clubs and off licenses and will allow them to support the Designated Premises Supervisor to sell alcohol responsibly on their premises.

“As well as carrying out checks and test purchase operations to ensure staff are keeping within the licensing laws, it is also important to us to work with premises to offer training and support to staff around their responsibilities.”

BIIAB is the specialist provider of qualifications for the licensed retail industry with training courses recognised by the police, local authorities, national and local government. For more information visit: www.biiab.bii.org/home
