Former teacher at Tibshelf school traced thanks to public appeal

Police have managed to trace a man who taught at a Derbyshire school in the 1960s – thanks to a public appeal.

Detective Sergeant Gareth Fuller, of Derbyshire police, said: “The response to our appeal on Monday has been amazing and I’m very grateful. We had made extensive enquiries to trace Mr Lee and checked death records but there was no conclusive evidence to point us in the right direction.

“As a result of the Facebook and media appeals we had several calls and his family also contacted us. We hope to be able to talk to Mr Lee at some point in the future.”

A Derbyshire police spokesman said there are operational reasons why the force cannot go into more details about why officers would like to speak to Mr Lee.
