A couple who moved from Chesterfield to America have been left heartbroken after their wedding momentos were lost in transit.

A new life in Texas got off to an unhappy start for Teresa and Andrew Hardwick when they found out on Monday that their wedding cake flowers and her bridal bouquet were missing.

The transit was being handled by Holmewood-based shipping company Simpsons.

Heartbroken Teresa, 42, who tied the knot in 1997, said: “I have been left feeling completely devastated and broken by the loss of these items.

“I had planned to pass on these items to my children in my later years as a memory of my beautiful day. I just want them back – nobody should have to go through this.”

A box containing pictures of Teresa’s late friend and some of her children’s belongings including her daughter’s tablet computer are also missing.

Teresa, originally from Newbold, added: “While I can replace many of these items, I can never replace my wedding treasures. I’m so emotional about it all.”

As the Derbyshire Times went to press, Peter Turner, of Simpsons, confirmed that the firm was in contact with Mr and Mrs Hardwick. He added: “A package has been located and shipped to the Hardwicks.” He was unable to confirm if the package contained the treasured wedding momentos.
