FIRMS in North Derbyshire are being urged to apply for a share of a £1bn national kitty to boost the economy
The third round of the Regional Growth Fund is now open and businesses are invited to an event in Chesterfield to find out what support is available and how to apply for grants.
The fund will support projects and programmes and could encourage private sector investment into North Derbyshire to create jobs for the future.
One-to-one advice about applying will be available at the information event, at Dunston Innovation Centre from 4pm to 6pm on Monday, March 12.
The event is being led by Bolsover District, Chesterfield Borough and North East Derbyshire District councils in their role as members of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, which will back applications from suitable projects.
Cllr Eion Watts, Bolsover District Council leader, said: “Like all areas of the country, North Derbyshire has been hit hard by the recession – this national fund is designed to help businesses and projects which have the potential to lever investment and new jobs into the region.”
Chesterfield leader John Burrows, added: “We have thriving companies across the area and we want to encourage as many as possible to consider putting in an application to support potential development projects, to ensure North Derbyshire gets a well-deserved share of this funding pot.”
Cllr Graham Baxter, NE Derbyshire Leader, urged companies to come along to the information event to find out more. He said: “Applications to the fund must meet certain criteria and the application process can sometimes be difficult to negotiate – we are here to help and, through the LEP, want to support suitable projects to make sure our region benefits.
