An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at an industrial unit in New Mills.

Firefighters from two counties tackled the blaze at the single-storey garage on Redmoor Lane, which is believed to have started shortly before 11.30pm last night (Thursday).

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from New Mills and Chapel-en-le-Frith arrived at the scene to find the building “well-alight”. Additional appliances from Glossop and Marple also attended.

Firefighters used six ground monitors and three main jets to extinguish the blaze, and remained at the scene into the morning damping down.
