Firefighters have spent the night battling a huge blaze in a Derbyshire village.

Crews from Chesterfield, Dronfield, Staveley and Lowedges were called to the fire at a barn on Far Lane, Barlow, at about 10pm last night.

Upon arrival, they found a tractor engulfed by flames inside a barn. Both the tractor and barn were destroyed.

Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. A spokesman for Derbyshire fire service said this morning: “Crews have used equipment to cool the surrounding area and are likely to remain at the scene throughout today.”

An investigation into what caused the fire has been launched.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Police closed Far Lane because of the incident.
