Firefighters rescue homeowner as kitchen goes up in flames
Firefighters rescued a homeowner whose kitchen went up in flames.
Crews from Alfreton, Ripley and Ashfield in Nottinghamshire were called to Douglas Road, Somercotes, at about 11.25am yesterday.
Upon arrival, they found a fire in the kitchen and discovered a homeowner in an upstairs bedroom.
Firefighters tackled the blaze and rescued the homeowner who was left in the care of paramedics, a fire service spokesman said.
The cause of the fire is not known.
