Firefighters dampening down after blaze at two-storey building in Derbyshire

Firefighters are dampening down after a blaze at a two-storey building in Derbyshire this morning (August 23).

Work is continuing to make the scene safe following the fire on Birchwood Avenue, Long Eaton, at around 8:55am.

Crews from Long Eaton, Ilkeston, Nottingham Road, Ascot Drive, Leicestershire’s Castle Donington and Loughborough, and Nottinghamshire’s Stockhill and Mansfield Fire Stations used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, and two main jets to extinguish the fire.

People are being asked to avoid the area.
