Fire on train travelling to Chesterfield - how your journey could be affected

Train services in Chesterfield have been disrupted after a fire on a train.

The incident is causing major disruption for trains between Derby and Matlock/Chesterfield.

All East Midlands Trains on these routes cannot run between Derby - Chesterfield/Matlock.

The line has reopened between Chesterfield and Derby.

East Midlands Trains to/from London St Pancras will be diverting where possible and this will add up to 30 minutes delay to your journey.

Trains between Matlock and Newark Castle, will run between Derby and Newark Castle only, in both directions.

It is estimated that both lines will re open by 1600.

Trains are currently unable to run between Derby and Matlock and a rail replacement bus is in operation.

Trains between Derby and Chesterfield are being diverted via an alternative route where possible. However, this is extending journey times by up to 30 minutes.

Trains are subject to delays of up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected to continue until the end of service.

What are the alternative travel options?

East Midlands Trains said you can use your ticket on Cross Country services between Derby and Chesterfield, which are also being diverted, and Northern services between Chesterfield and Nottingham.

Replacement buses will also be running in both directions between Matlock and Derby.

If you are travelling between London and Sheffield and beyond - you may use your ticket on LNER services between London Kings Cross and Doncaster. (London St Pancras is a short walk over the road to London Kings Cross) and any service between Doncaster and Sheffield.
