Fire crews rescue trapped heifer

MATLOCK firefighters released a trapped cow after it fell through the roof of an out-building alongside a public footpath.

The cow was found struggling with a rear, right leg trapped in steelwork in the building, on Cunnery Lane, at Tansley, Matlock, about 6.25pm, on Wednesday, October 5.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “A two year-old heifer had fallen through the roof of the building about 100 yards from the road.”

Firefighters used cutting gear to release the heifer within an hour with help from the RSPCA.
