Fire crews’ crash calls

ALFRETON firefighters helped rescue and treat two casualties in two serious road traffic crashes in mid Derbyshire on the same day.

Crews released a female casualty trapped in a car which had overturned on the B6013 road at Oakerthorpe, about 9.55am, on Friday, and she was treated by ambulance paramedics.

A female casualty was also injured in a five vehicle collision on the A38 northbound carriageway between Watchhorn, Alfreton, and the M1 motorway, about 5.50pm, on the same day, and was given first aid by firefighters before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
