Fans invited to Spireites’ celebration parade

Chesterfield FC supporters can join in the club’s promotion and players’ celebrations today, Monday, May 12, with a victory parade through the town and a civic reception being held by Chesterfield Borough Council.

The parade gets underway with the manager and players leaving the Proact Stadium at 6pm as they parade through the town centre, travelling down Sheffield Road, Elder Way, Knifesmith Gate and arriving at the Town Hall, Rose Hill at approximately 6.20pm.

Peak FM breakfast presenters James and Becky will provide a warm up outside the Town Hall until the players appear on the balcony at around 6.30pm.

Players will be introduced onto the balcony in small groups and will be interviewed about the past season and the promotion.

Cllr John Burrows, Chesterfield Borough Council’s leader, said: “So many Chesterfield residents support our local football club and this is their opportunity to come along and join with us as we celebrate the club’s success and promotion to the Sky Bet League One next season.”

Chris Turner, chief executive of Chesterfield Football Club, said: “We are looking forward to celebrating our title success with the fans and we would like to thank Chesterfield Borough Council for hosting a civic reception in our honour.”

The council will host a civic reception for the club inside the Town Hall from 7pm onwards.
