The family of one of the women killed in a fire in North Wingfield has said caring for her daughter who survived the fire is their priority.

Claire James, 27, was one of four people who died in the fire at a house on Williamthorpe Road on Wednesday morning.

Her seven-year-old daughter escaped the fire with minor injuries.

In a statement, Claire’s family said: “We are devastated by our loss and want to be left alone to grieve.”

They added that supporting Claire’s young daughter though this traumatic time was their main priority.

Josie Leighton, 32, and her two sons Tyler Green, nine, and Jordan Green, 12, also lost their lives in the fire.

Jordan’s father has also issued a tribute to his son.

Andrew Green said: “I can recall Jordan’s first ever words. He was a cheeky, sweet, loving young man. He loved music and skateboarding. He will be deeply missed by me, his dad, and my partner.”

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
