The family of a young woman killed in a landslide in Dorset have thanked well wishers for supporting them during their ordeal.
Charlotte, 22 – a volunteer at Ripley charity, Derbyshire Autism Services Group – died last month as she walked on a beach past 60ft high cliffs that fell suddenly.
Vicki Butler – the sister of Charlotte Blackman’s childhood sweetheart’ Matthew Carnell – this week read out a statement on behalf of the grieving family .
Matthew and Charlotte, from Heanor, had been together for six years, having met at Aldercar Community and Language College while studying there.
Matthew’s sister Vicki, 38, said: “The tragic events of last week have changed our lives completely.
“What had been an idyllic, enjoyable family holiday very quickly turned into a living nightmare that will be etched in our minds forever.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the search for Charlotte, and the management and staff at Freshwater Holiday Park.”
Vicki, accompanied by her brother David Carnell, told the News it was the family’s first trip to the holiday park in Burton Bradstock when tragedy struck.
Charlotte had just received a first class degree in education studies at the University of Derby and had a promising career in teaching ahead of her.
Vicki read: “Charlotte was an inspirational, beautiful young lady, whose love and passion for life touched many.”
