Family and press praise former Chesterfield schoolboy Harry Maguire after first goal for England in World Cup win against Sweden

The 25-year-old, who attended St Mary's Roman Catholic High School and often returns there to give inspirational talks, scored England's first goal in a 2-0 win against Sweden in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Russia.

This morning he features on the front and back pages of most of the national newspapers after an impressive performance.

The Mail on Sunday's back page story leads on the headline 'Prince Harry - Maguire is head boy as England roar into semis' while the The Sun on Sunday and Sunday Mirror both picture him on the front celebrating his goal.

What was Harry Maguire like at school? After the game Harry tweeted: "Wow... What a feeling! World Cup Semi Final. Bring it on."

His older brother, Joe, tweeted: "No words for my brother! Just keeps proving everyone wrong! So happy for him, he deserves everything he gets! Love you mate @HarryMaguire93."

His younger brother, Laurence, who plays for Chesterfield and was allowed to leave pre-season training by Spireites boss Martin Allen to watch the match, shared a picture of Harry celebrating his goal.

While Harry's sister, Daisy, wrote on Twitter: "Unbelievably proud, you deserve everything bro."

And his girlfriend, Fern Hawkins, posted: "What a feeling."

England play Croatia on Wednesday night for a chance to play either France or Belgium in the final of the World Cup.
