The giant chemical company hoping to carry out fracking tests in Derbyshire has defended it’s health and safety record during a Derbyshire Times debate with a local campaigner.
We brought together Tom Pickering from Ineos and Cassie Steel, representing local anti-fracking campaigners, to discuss the controversial subject of shale gas extraction.
The debate was filmed by media students at Chesterfield college.

Fracking involves drilling deep into the down before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Controversy surrounds the process because of enviromental concerns but others say it could contribute significantly to the UK’s future energy needs and bring significant income to the area.
