Environment Agency investigating oil spill on Cromford Canal

The Environment Agency is currently investigating what appears to be oil on the Cromford Canal at High Peak Junction.

An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "We have started an investigation into a patch of unidentified oil that has spread for approximately 1 km between Cromford and Whatstandwell at the High Peak Junction.

"We urge anyone walking in the area to ensure that their dogs do not enter the water.

"If anyone has any information or concerns, please contact: 0800 807060."
