Energy chiefs apologise after power cut affects large part of Chesterfield

Energy chiefs have apologised after a power cut affected a large part of the Chesterfield area last night.

Hundreds of homes in the S40 and S41 areas were without power for about two hours because of a fault with an 11 kilovolt underground cable.

Engineers from Western Power Distribution (WPD) worked to re-route supplies.

Power was back on by about 10pm.

A WPD spokesman said: “We’d like to thank customers for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
