Staff at the Pomegranate Theatre, which will host the family pantomime in January, confirmed the show will go on for trooper Roxanne after she was air-lifted to hospital in the ‘terrifying’ incident.

Roxanne, best known as Jo Stiles in ITV’s Emmerdale, was lucky to escape with sprained wrists, bruising and concussion when the Formula 2 stock car she was driving ploughed into a wall.

It happened during a race against Ben Fry, her Minster FM breakfast how co-host, at Hunmanby Raceway in York.

“It’s something you never expect to happen to you- I’ve never felt pain like it,” said Roxanne. “I’ve been really lucky.”

This is the first time Roxanne will tread the boards at the Pomegranate, reuniting with X-factor star Rhydian who performed with her in the 40th Anniversary tour of The Rocky Horror Show in 2014.

Pantomime producer Paul Holman said: “Roxanne and Rhydian are sure to enchant our audiences and their stunning vocal talents combined will leave them spellbound.”
