Eleven homes planned for charity’s head office site

A Matlock–based charity has submitted a planning application to build 11 new homes on the site of its car park.

The Youth Hostel Association in Dimple Road submitted the planning application to Derbyshire Dales District Council to build the homes on part of its existing head office site.

They will be family–sized three–bedroom houses with parking spaces and gardens, which will be laid out in terraces.

The application’s design and access statement said: “The scheme has been designed to provide a clear delineation between private and public space.

“The private gardens will provide generous outdoor space while also being of a size that can be maintained, by the owners.

“The borders of the site are populated with established trees and plants, which are to be retained with the exception of several low to poor quality and of limited merit or impair condition trees.”

The current plans show access to the development would be from the existing YHA entrance on Dimple Road, with the charity retaining some car parking at the side of the building for employees.

More space will also be created by removing an existing YHA building from the site.
