A pair of students from a Derbyshire school are heading to Harvard after securing a place on a summer school programme.

Joseph Hoult and Ryan O’Neill from Netherthorpe beat off competition from over 2000 applicants to win one of five week-long placements, open to talented students from low and middle income families.
Joseph, said: “I initially applied as a long-shot and had never really thought I had a chance of studying in America. But now here I am - flying over the Pacific and on my way to the best university in the world! It’s the best opportunity I’ve ever had - it could change my life entirely!”
