Pupils stage Nile story in school’s grounds

Pupils in Years 3 and 4 at Stonelow Junior School surprised parents, relatives and friends with a performance that was somewhat different from the usual school play.

Louise Manifold, performing arts expert, worked with children and teachers to come up with a range of exciting ideas expressed though song, dance and drama on their current topic, the Egyptians .

The audience was surprised and delighted to find itself being led by the young performers around the school grounds, where the children staged scenes of life along the Nile in different locations.

“It was a great idea,” commented one parent.

The children were also enthusiastic about the experience. “It was great fun. We liked the fact that we had our own ideas for the play,” said one.
