Pupils at Mill Hill School have been taking part in Olympic-themed lessons as they gear up for London 2012.
The Ripley school is the latest in Derbyshire to gain “Get Set” status, awarded by London 2012 to schools demonstrating a commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values.
One of the projects at Mill Hill School has seen pupils take part in a range of Olympic-themed lessons.
These included Year 8 Science pupils using the idea of genetic engineering to design the perfect athlete and in Food Technology, Year 8 pupils designed an Olympic cookie and carbohydrate snack which they will make and market.
Sarah Graham, head teacher at Mill Hill School, said the Olympics was a great tool to get children involved in learning.
