CALLING all schools and colleges in north Derbyshire.
The Derbyshire Times has launched a monthly new education section - and we’d like you to help us fill it with up-beat and positive news about our local schools.
As part of our role, Derbyshire Times staff often visit local schools - and we are always blown away by the wonderful work being done.
We hope you will help us celebrate this positive initiative (after all, there’s enough doom and gloom going on in the world) and that’s why we’re handing over the platform to schools and colleges themselves.
We’re looking for submissions from head teachers, teachers, lecturers and students and we have set up an e-mail account to make it easy for you to get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
We would suggest submissions could be in the following manner:
* Lead stories about an event/project/conference/field trip etc etc to a maximum of 350 words
* Short stories (again, written by teachers or students) to a maximum of 100 words
* Nibs (news in briefs), to a max of 40 words - we’d like to get lots of these!
* Picture stories - where the picture does the talking and a few paragraphs (or even one sentence) explains what is happening.
Pictures can be sent in isolation or to accompany stories - we would only ask that they are sent in a jpeg format for ease of production.
This week’s supplement is all but complete (see Thursday’s Derbyshire Times) and the next one will be out on July 7.
Please bear in mind that the supplements are put together in advance - so don’t leave it until the last minute to send your material.
We hope you will share our enthusiasm in this project and look forward to hearing from you all.
