The headteacher at a Chesterfield secondary school is to leave at the end of the academic year, it has been announced.

Steven Edmonds will leave Brookfield Community School after eight years to take up a new role elsewhere, parents have been informed today.

A letter to parents from chair of governors Jonathan Hardwick said: "I am sure you will all join me in thanking him for his support and dedication to Brookfield Community School, its staff and students over the last eight years, and to wish him every success in his new position.

"Clearly this will leave the Governing Body with a requirement to recruit a suitable replacement headteacher.

"We are well underway with the preparatory work necessary to put this in place, engaging with the Derbyshire Headteacher Recruitment support service as well as our School Improvement Officer to give this very serious matter our best attention."
