Celebrating achievement

It’s that time of year again when all of the directorates at Chesterfield College celebrate student achievements.

From Engineering to Catering, Public Services to Art, the amazing work and dedication of each group of students has been recognised at Celebration of Achievement events both at the college and at venues across the area.

Childcare students celebrated gaining various levels of qualifications at Ringwood Hall, in Staveley.

During the glitzy event, pictured right, the students had chance to present the Headteacher of Clowne Junior School with a cheque for £535 which they raised over the course of the year at various charity events.

The money will help the school take its students, including some severely disabled learners, on an educational holiday in the very near future.

Catering NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery student, Kieron Beach, received his Student of the Year award at the Catering and Hospitality Celebration of Achievement.

Health Related Exercise and Fitness Student of the Year, David Mutale, was presented with his award and a multimedia tablet at the Sports and Public Services Certificate of Achievement presentation.

David came to the UK seven years ago and didn’t speak any English so to have studied as hard as he has and achieve so much is a real inspiration to the other students. He received his award from tutor Matt Pearson and Head of Sport and Public Services, Debra Gray.

Art Foundation student Elena Sharpe and Fashion Student Hannah Chapman received their Student of the Year awards at the Arts Exhibition during the College’s Arts Festival.

They were presented with the awards by college principal Judith McArthur and head of Art and Design, Jeremy Asquith.

Foundation Studies students enjoyed a glamorous evening of celebration at the Casa Hotel, in Chesterfield, including what turned out to be a very energetic disco.

Head of Care and Foundation Studies, Karen Dobson proudly awarded Student of the Year to Ashley Gee.
