DRONFIELD: Schoolchildren receive Rotary Junior Community Award

Over 40 Year 6 children from seven Dronfield schools have just received the Rotary Junior Community Award thanks to The Rotary Club of Drone Valley.

The award scheme encourages young people to develop new skills and interests and shows how they can be used to benefit both themselves and their community. It is achievable by children of all physical and academic abilities.

The awards were presented at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School by the deputy Mayor of Dronfield Cllr Doug Oxspring.

This is the seventh year that the award scheme has been organized by The Rotary Club of Drone Valley in conjunction with the schools.

In her address, club president Gill Harvey said: “We are very proud of these children, the range of award activities they have chosen continues to amaze us and I hope that they have enjoyed taking part in the scheme”.

The Rotary Club of Drone Valley meets every Monday evening at the Sandpiper Hotel, Sheepbridge. Further information can be found on the club website www.dronevalleyrotary.org.uk
