FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a blaze at a home after a fire in a wood burner spread into the roof of a conservatory.

The fire was discovered at the home, on Northern Common, Dronfield, about 1.45pm, on Sunday.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “The fire spread into the roof of the conservatory and crews had to remove part of the ceiling to get at the affected joists.

“They used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to search for any hotspots to ensure the property was safe.”

Crews managed to make the home safe within about an hour-and-a-half.
