COUNCILLORS have issued a warning after drivers were fined at a ‘free’ car park.
Dronfield Town Council has received several complaints from motorists who parked in the town’s Civic Centre.
The sign says ‘short stay free car park’ but it also states there are time restrictions.
However town councillors want the duration drivers can park – 90 minutes – more clearly marked.
A spokesman said: “If you are parking in Dronfield, please make sure you are aware of the parking times.”
NE Derbyshire District Council, one of the only councils in the UK to provide free parking said: “Although all car parks are free there are time limits at some including the Dronfield Civic Centre.
“This allows more people to visit the towns and can help further boost local trade.”
