Driver fled after hitting bridge in Chesterfield

Emergency services and Network Rail were called to Sheepbridge after a vehicle hit a bridge.

The call came in at 4.32pm yesterday, Wednesday, July 18 and crews from Clay Cross, Chesterfield, South Yorkshire Fire and ERescue all attended as did Derbyshire Police.

A spokesman for Derbsyhire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We responded to an road traffic collision involving a bridge strike on Station Road. The vehicle left scene, and only evidence of the incident remained.

“Details passed to Derbyshire Police and Network Rail, firefighters inspected the bridge to ensure it was safe.”
