Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, June 2, how Kenneth Ashley, 50, of Sherbourne Avenue, Chesterfield, had been driving in Brimington and the pedestrian he collided with suffered injuries.

Prosecuting solicitor Angela Hadfield said this was not a high-speed collision and the female pedestrian was walking across the road wearing light-coloured clothing and not looking. The pedestrian suffered broken ribs and a fractured clavicle.

Ashley pleaded guilty by post to driving without due care and attention after the incident in February. District Judge Andrew Davison explained that Ashley had not provided any mitigation. He fined Ashley £220 and ordered him to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £35 costs. Ashley’s licence was endorsed with six points.
