Driver collided with woman

A motorist who was in a collision with a pedestrian has narrowly escaped losing his licence.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard, on Monday, how joiner Levi Richmond, 23, of Kirkcroft Drive, Killamarsh, connected with the woman as she walked on a Zebra crossing on Bridge Street, Killamarsh, and suffered bruising.

Angela Hadfield, prosecuting, said the defendant was parked next to the crossing and reversed into it to do a three-point turn and as he was driving he connected with the woman.

Richmond pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and stopping in a Zebra crossing after the incident in September. The court heard how he helped the woman, was sorry and needs his licence for work. Magistrates fined him £274 and ordered him to pay a £27 victim surcharge and £35 costs. His licence, which had six points, was endorsed with four points.
