A Chesterfield driver has been caught using a mobile phone at the wheel.

Officers with the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit noticed the driver of a white Transit van when out on a routine patrol.

A tweet put out by the unit said the driver was so distracted that he didn’t even notice the police car alongside him.

The driver will now be given a £200 fine and six penalty points and could be banned from driving.
