Door chimes installed during Safer Neighbourhood team’s visit to Great Hucklow

The security of a holiday centre in Great Hucklow has been given a boost during a visit by the local Safer Neighbourhood team.

PCSO Anthony Boswell delivered security items such as door chimes to the village’s Nightingale Centre.

The door chimes, which are available to Derbyshire Dales residents at a discounted rate, ring whenever a door is opened and can be an effective tool in the fight against burglars.

PCSO Boswell, from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The chimes are attached to a door and alert you whenever the door is opened.

“They are beneficial for shops, businesses such as the Nightingale Centre and at residential homes.

“If a burglar forces a door, the alarm will chime and you will know that the door has been opened by someone.

“That simple tool could mean the difference between being burgled and helping us to prevent crime in the area.”

Door chimes are available at cut-price as part of Operation Illuminate, a Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership project to tackle acquisitive crime such as burglary.

Other items on offer include shed and garage alarms, timer plug switches and outdoor light bulbs.

The partnership is made up of organisations including Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Dales District Council.
