Divas get set for Vegas contest

A special fundraising event has been organised to help get an all-female Derbyshire choir to an international singing contest in Las Vegas.

DaleDiva won gold in a national competition stage last year to secured them a place in the World Championships in America later this year.

They’ll be singing against some of the best choruses in the world on the famous MGM Grand stage in October.

It will be the chorus’ biggest challenge yet and aims to raise £65,000 with a packed programme of extra fundraising events to help get every Diva to Vegas.

The Diva’s Going for Gold fundraiser will take place at Cromford Community Centre, Market Place, Cromford, on Saturday, March 14, from 10.30am to 10pm.

DaleDiva musical director Ally Law said: “We have a huge challenge ahead of us with the serious business of raising money to get every Diva to Vegas – but we plan to have a lot of fun doing it!

“There’ll be something for all the family at this event with lots of music and laughs along the way – and if you fancy yourself as a stage star in our lip-sync competition we’d love to hear from you. We really appreciate all the support we’ve had so far since we announced we’re off to represent our country at the World Championships and we look forward to seeing everyone in Cromford.”
