A romantic couple who courted during dances in Chesterfield have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Brian and Joyce Cordwell, both aged 82, of Inkersall, near Staveley, tied the knot at Brimington Church and have recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with a party.
Mr Cordwell said: “We had a wonderful get together at the Hop Flower with friends and family. I never realised how well known and well thought of we have become over the years.”
Mr Cordwell worked in earth excavation on opencast and motorway projects and Mrs Cordwell worked at Robinson’s packaging company and later became a secretary.
The couple has two daughters Janine and Elaine and a son Martyn and they also have five grandchildren.
Mr Cordwell added: “We have received so many flowers that we have been kept very busy watering them everyday.”
