Derbyshire vulnerable advised on safety issues

A series of factsheets have been produced as part of Derbyshire County Council’s Hate Crime and Keeping Safe Project.

People with learning disabilities are often more vulnerable to bullying, abuse and hate crime. To help address this, McIntyre, a national charity, has developed the Keeping Safe factsheets covering issues such as internet safety, friends or pretent friends, travelling safely, visitors at home, safety when out and about, protecting your home, keeping secrets and identity theft.

The leaflets have been welcomed by the county council and are now on its website.

They contain advice such as remembering to keep windows and doors locked at home and not carrying valuables or more money than necessary when out and about.
