Pupils from across the county saw a non-verbal performance from Positive about Deafness Productions aimed at educating a particularly vulnerable section of our community about the potential dangers of the internet and social media.

The students were tasked with designing a DVD cover for the play and the two winners were from Chesterfield and Langley Mill.

PCSO Jenny Sadler is part of the Mackworth Safer Neighbourhood Team whose area covers the Royal School for the Deaf in Derby. She said: “It was a pleasure to help with judging the competition to design a DVD cover based on the play. The quality from the competitors was extremely high and it was very difficult to choose a winner.

“Well done to our two winners, the designs from everybody showed how impactive our show was in getting the internet safety message across. On speaking to the children and visiting other schools to discuss this play I have been continually impressed with their feedback and interpretation of the play.”

The winners of the competition were Amelie Searson, 10, of Langley Mill Primary School and Savana Beresford , also 10, of New Whittington Primary School.

Amelie and Savana, along with other entrants, went to Derbyshire police headquarters on Monday, June 20 to receive their awards from the commissioner.
