Derbyshire police issue warning to parents after child abduction attempt

Parents have been warned to be vigilant after a man allegedly tried to abduct a boy in Eckington.

Police say at around 3.30pm on Tuesday a boy was approached near the One Stop in West Street by a man who grabbed him on the arm and asked the boy to come with him.

The man is described as white, approximately 50-years-old, 5ft 5in tall with a goatee beard and brown short hair. He was wearing a green top and blue jeans.

St Giles Church of England School, in Killamarsh, said on social media: “There was an attempted abduction of a year seven boy from Eckington, near the One Stop shop in West Street. Police are aware. Please reinforce saftey precautions and stranger danger with your children.”
