Derbyshire police helicopter base to close

The National Police Air Service has revealed that it plans to cut its current number of bases from 19 to 15.

It currently runs 23 helicopters and it is planning to change that to 19 helicopters and four fixed-wing aircraft.

The Derbyshire base will close on January 31, 2016, but the service intends to create two bases over the border in Leicestershire at East Midlands Airport in Castle Donington

These aims to include one for helicopters and one for its four fixed wing aircraft.
