A community mental health nurse has publicly thanked her partner for driving her around during the 'beast from the east'.

David Pears came to the aid of Amy Harcombe on Thursday afternoon so she could get to her patients around Clowne, Brimington and Chesterfield.

The 32-year-old, of North Wingfield, said: "I'd do anything to help Amy out as her job is so important to her.

"I'm just thankful we could get to the patients who needed their medication.

"Happy to help the community."

Amy added: "I want to publicly thank David for driving me around all afternoon ensuring all my vulnerable patients were seen to and their medication given.

"I'm very proud of being a nurse and having him to help me."

While out and about, the couple heard about an elderly man who had fallen in Killamarsh.

They drove there and helped him into their car as they were concerned an ambulance would take a long time to arrive.

The gentleman needs a full hip replacement.
