The Veteran Labour MP covering the Shirebrook area broken silence in an article for the left wing publication, the Morning Star today, and stated that socialism has all but vanished from Europe, so if Brussels wants to win back his vote they will need to impose a continent-wide ban on zero-hours contracts.

A long-time defender of workers' rights in the area going back to the miners' strikes, Mr Skinner has more recently joined protesters outside Sports Direct where some 3,000 workers are on precarious flexible contracts which guarantee very little work.

Dubbed the 'Beast of Bolsover' the long-time trade-unionist reportedly said: "My opposition from the very beginning has been on the lines that fighting capitalism state-by-state is hard enough. It’s even harder when you’re fighting it on the basis of eight states, 10 states and now 28.

“In the old days they could argue you might get a socialist government in Germany, but there’s not been one for donkeys’ years.

“At one time there was Italy, the Benelux countries, France and Germany, Portugal, Spain and us.

“Now there’s just one in France and it’s hanging on by the skin of its teeth.”

Dennis joins another Nottinghamshire Labour MP, John Mann, who said the Labour voters fundamentally disagree with the party's MPs on the issue of immigration.

The pair of MPs brings the number of Labour members voting out up to 10, with more than 200 hundred still backing the Remain camp.
