Derbyshire County Council runs the scheme in conjunction with the Reading Agency with events in its libraries to encourage children of all ages to read up to six books over the summer holidays to maintain their reading skills and confidence.

This year the council made a successful £10,000 Arts Council bid to support the event by funding additional activities organised by a range of professional artists.

The challenge will be launched on July 11 and run until September 12.
